News from Previous Years

From 1 July 2010 we are changing our normal opening hours and will no longer open on Saturdays.

The new hours will be:

Monday 8.45 to 1pm, 1.45 to 5pm

Tuesday 8.45 to 1pm, 1.45 to 5pm

Wednesday 8.45 to 1pm, 1.45 to 5pm

Thursday 8.45 to 1pm, 1.45 to 7.15pm

Friday 8.45 to 1pm, 1.45 to 5pm

Saturday CLOSED

We will be publicising these hours in the press and in fliers to go out with patient recalls.  If you have any questions about the new hours or wish to make an appointment please do not hesitate to contact us.

Welcome to our New Optical Receptionist

Following our announcement below, we are pleased to announce our new member of the team is Maureen Steven.  Maureen joins us from H&M Buttress, the clothing store in Thurso, where she has provided many years of excellent service to the public.  We are confident that given our own brand of in-house training that Maureen will become a valuable addition to our team.

We are sad to announce that Sherryl Polson will be leaving us for pastures new, but we are indebted to her for being such a first rate employee who has been an asset to our business for the past six years and more.  On behalf of the rest of the team and our patients we wish you the best of fortune in your new life, Sherryl.

Optometrist Receptionist/Assistant

We are pleased to announce that we have found a suitable person for the above post who will be starting shortly. We would like to thank all those who took an interest in the position and our practice.  All unsuccessful candidates should by now have been notified.

Local Cataract Surgery begins

The local CHP is delighted to announce that the first batch of cataract operations has taken place in Caithness General Hospital, Wick.  This is great news not only for Caithness General but also for those who find it difficult to make the long road journey to Raigmore for surgery.  Places are limited and demand expected to be high but patients are bound to feel their choices are greatly improved.

We are pleased to be accredited as a part of the new cataract care pathway, providing both a referral service and aftercare service for patients with cataract, pre and post operatively, linking to the ophthalmologists at Raigmore.
